Yesterday evening it was the first evening to observe the comet C/2011 L4 PanSTARRS and the only 22 hours old young moon right beside it. I took my kids and we went into the cold air at -5°C. We were lucky and found the moon already very early and a little bit later we discovered the comet as well. We took strings of images, but we were disappointed as the comet was that small and faint. Go and see images HERE.

The TS690s is sold. I rearranged a lot of things and get all the stuff running again after this years' break. Still things are going slow, but the station is working with the Flex-1500 as central rig. The IC820 for VHF/UHF needs some work and that is done soon hopefully.

At moonrise on 10 December 2011 our "trabant" was totally eclipsed and against all expectations it was very clear down to the horizon. While joining at a meeting of our local astronomy club we had the chance of observing the end of the eclipse. Here is an image of the partially eclipsed moon.

In my Astrophoto section you find a few new images of the Moon and Jupiter. I cannot explain why, but they are somewhat unsharp. I have checked the collimation of the scope before taking the images and found it OK. Have a look nevertheless ...
